Diamond Sturgeons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I saw some Sterlets in a LFS a few months ago. Very cool looking fish, but they seem like a lot of trouble to keep. Hope you got that chiller ready. Good luck with these little guys.

Yeah I guess so... Next time I'll keep new things to myself. lol

Why are you getting defensive? I don't know you. I don't know how you care for your fish. I tried asking in a polite manner your long term plans for these fish, they reach 8' for God sakes. I have seen a lot of people keep sturgeon and few do it right. I'm just makeing sure you know what you're doing. You posted that you bought sturgeon how can you NOT expect a concerned reaction from someone on a fish forum?

Unfortunately on forums in general any time you post these you will always get a bunch of uninformed blather, mostly by those who have never worked with the fish

Is that directed towards me?

Arthur, I guarantee it is not! We all know you are well informed. Past issues, and misunderstandings are done. Do not read so deeply into this post. Brook knows you are one of the "good guys". Please.

What he said...That was not a direct statement toward anyone in particular just an observation. I have worked with these fish quite a lot both professionally and in my spare time.. What I'm saying is that often people really are not getting decent info on how to care for these fish on these forums..There is a lot of parroting of misinformation and not quite so accurate info routinely posted about them.

Teleost they are being aquacultured quite intensely, which is why so many are showing up as surplus these days.

First off, I wasnt getting mad or defensive. Nothing was said to you personaly either, so I dont know why you looked at it like I did.

I hate when people asume I cant take care of the fish I buy. Not saying it to you or anything, just in general. I know what I buy, and I do look and read everything I can about them, and talk/ask questions to people who have had them personaly. I know there are people out there who dont do what they are supose to.. Im not one. I posted pictures of what I picked up b/c you dont see it on here and all I wanted to do was share my newest addition.

Everyone hates it but it's just something you gotta deal with. It's a fish board where the well being of the fish is the number one concern. If I knew you better I would not have given you any trouble. There are a lot of uneducated and younger people on this board and I was just making sure you knew what you were getting into. Now I know. Good luck with them BTW. I would love to keep sturgeon at some point in my life but at this point I know I am unable to do so.
