I have no idea how you people have no clue what im saying but once you see your friend and other people pull a gar out of lake tarpon thats 3 foot + you will believe. There are so many scientists that believe certain fish and animals can grow to a certain size. Yet to find out they are mostly wrong and discover Monsterous sizes of animals and fish they thought could only grow that size... They thought the giant squid was a myth, Yet they found one... Before that scientists though the colosal squid was the biggest and then one day they pull up a giant squid. I do know they are different species of squid but still its fact. Certain bloodlines of animals or fish can grow larger or live longer. As in certain bloodlines that does not mean different species.... If you disagree with that statement then why is there a 200+ year old koi confirmed by scientists.

Captive bred fishes have captive bred genes, lots of inter breeding, bad conditions and forced breeding at younger ages. All these leads to bad genes which in turn mean smaller fish.
To compare a wild fish to a captive bred one with so many gens since the F0 doesn't make any sense at all.

That is true but my point was a Florida gar out of captivity can reach a max of 3foot plus.I know that in captivity they cannot become that big. Also most the stores in florida carry caught gars rather then captive breed and raised. But if you were to take a female wild gar and put it into a big enough pond,(still considered captivity) it does have potential to reach 3 foot. I have seen these monsters in bass pro shop in orlando. The other poster was arguing the fact that they will not exceed 2 foot which in reality in the wild 2 foot is just the minimum size of a Florida gar. I understand that over the years of constant breeding in tanks too small for them over generations and decades has yeild a gar that cannot grow to its full potential. Therefor creating the Hobbiest florida gar which will most likely max at less the 3 foot around 2 foot 4 inch. The only fact I was fighting about is that they can exceed 3 foot in the wild and with given wild like settings plus constant food everyday up intill the day it dies is how bass pro shop has such large gars. Therefor making my statement true.
as I said if you never try or never seen one that can grow over 3 ft, your "opinion" still is not fact! BTW, Solomon is a well know scientist that researching gars in America and probably in the world.
I never tried to deny that lol I know everything you just said is exactly what I'm saying. The only thing I had with the original person that said its not possible he didn't just say buying a small one and then growing it out he infered that in the wild they will not exceed 2 foot + which is a lie. But agree with me on this it is possible despite the complications to catch a baby %100 female gar and grow it out in a tank like bass pro and have a 3 foot grow out Florida gar. Who's to say bass pro even starts with big monsters they could have got some foot long floridas mixed with others and produced a 3 foot + gar out of a 1 foot female. Also I am not doubting any of your skills or knowledge on keeping gars because I'm sure you both are good keepers. It's just I have seen these 3 foot Florida gars caught and then also caught and put into captivity I'm just proving my point that a 3 foot gar is possible. I agree with you that a captive breed Florida gar is almost impossible to yield the same growth as a %100 wild Florida gar.
