fish cave
i got a 20 to 22" gar was doing great not aggressive no problems. i went from feeding him gold fish to feeding him talapia. i added in the tank 2 peacock bass and all hell broke lose i took out and sold my shnok and barb thinking thay did the damage today i went to leave the house and saw my gar try and eat a 6 inch bass. the bass are know in a deferent tank but i was just wondering if i did something to set the gars aggression off?

and know im kinda worried about the 3 other fish in the tank is he going to go after them i have a 20 inch royal knife 10 inch tsn and a 8 inch marbled cat

Dude, you're putting a 6" fish with a 22" fish. It isn't aggression, it's just try to see what it tastes like.

i would have thought that to but that was the one i saw him go after the nastier wounds are on the bigger bass that is about 10" and the two fish i got rid of were about the same size between 6 to 10" and the gar never had any interest in them:(

wow same thing happen to me i had a gator gar like 17inch and i ate my baby peacock bass so i gave it to my friend and he said dont put any fish smaller then the half of his body and as wide as is tail fin or its going to be gone by morning

so you guys dont think it was the food change that brought the aggression on? or alligator gars just dont like peacock bass. :( the bass are in a 150g tube in the basement know how cold of water can thay do good in the temp of the tanks stay at about 75.

i Know what you are saying Ono will i have to give my gar away ?? no u dont i think best way to fix this is to keep the gar get the peacock bass a bit bigger and try it and see what happens it gos like this big fish eat little fish and if the both big enough they both at balence and every thing all good my mini monster tank comeing along so far 3 pbass 1pikeC an 1odoe pike and baby aro in a week or so

peacock bass need warm water so if tanks in a cold bassment what do u think might happen my cousin in hawaii has pbass in his bassment but its in hawaii so warm air and you i dont think 75 going to cut it it might drop a bit tonight i say 78 better safe then sad lol

gars are crazy ass fish man. can change in a sec

Sorry, but I think this was the funniest, and most truthful
sentence, I have ever seen on MFK.
To the OP.I'm not laughing at your situation, but I don't know what advice to give at this point other than keep that Gar fed and say a prayer,or see if you can move the gar out, return it,or trade it.
It's an unfortunate experience.Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
