Blood Parrots, Flowerhorns, dyed fish or genetically alltured fish i will never buy. Thats why i chose a trimac, i also love the way my red tiger oscar looks as it is. I wish the blue strain was a natural occurance :(

i agree but at least hybrids and genetically altered fish are born that way and not tortured as juvies like the dyed ones :(

Around here they call them Blueberry Oscars and are dyed fish. You should say somthing to the store owner and don't support that store. It's a shame.

lemon oscars are not dyed, its genetic, i dont know if its xanthic exactly but similar,as are the copper ones (though i think they are pretty rare), "blueberry" and "strawberry" ones are dyed however, and ones that had a completely blue tint to them but not strong/shining are most likely dyed fish that have already begun to fade so have been put back with the regular Os, these pics are ones i found that were dyed  (second pic you can see had mostly faded before it died)

Mine looked like the bottom pic, the blue tint in the body faded, the dark fins stayed. Interesting that it was apparently dyed, I never knew why I lost him, does the dyeing shorten their lifespan?

I am against dyed fish too. What do you think of those fruity tetras? Kinda the same deal right.

Not sure on the exact number but a lot of them die in the process right?

yes CTU2fan thats why you lost yours, most of them die during the dye process and the ones that survive, rarely make it a year, and Kjfan if you are talking about the glo-fish, those bright colored danios, that is not the same process. those guys are genetically engineered and so are born that way and it doesn't affect them at all

yup, they added jellyfish dna for the glo fish if i recall correctly, many countries actually outlawed the sale of these altered danios

I'm really upset now, those dye people killed my oscar :( Well at least it wasn't my fault...

Yeah the glo-fish are genetic, but there's also dyed skirt tetras I think which are dyed.
