I really dont think that punch was necessary. police officers are trained to handle situations like this. He should no that by using unorthodox ways of subduing a citizen would bring him attention, and what type of guy actually hits a girl like that?

what he did was wrong. im sry but it was. did it do its job? yes. was it actually quite effective? yes. but as a professional, it is not the right action he should have taken. he lost his temper
all he needs is a simple slap on the wrist, a short class on acceptance, a few hours of retraining and a few hours of anger management. thats all im sayin. it would most likly end all media hype and shut up those calling for race charges

I notice people like this always look for drama with the cops. They act out this way to cause controversy. Look at the guy holding his cell phone out recording the whole thing and all his friends around.
I don't think the cop went over board. You give problems to cops expect to be kicked, punched, sprayed, and/or slammed. People have so much lack of respect for cops. I suppose its quite alright to slap, push, punch, grab and wrestle with cops? Cops biggest fear is getting hurt or killed on the job, so they will take whatever means necessary to prevent that. I know I would and anyone else would. Hey, they are regular people just like you and me, its their job. Why do people gotta make it harder for them?

Another thing, I see alot of people saying " I don't think the punch was necessary". Let me tell you this. Have you ever had a kid or a person come to your job or home and annoy you? And you never had thoughts of hitting or doing something to them? I know you have at some point so don't deny it. If you were the cop here and trying to do your job and someone is grabbing, pushing and slapping you, I bet you would punch them.

Im sorry but where did you see this officer go off in a temper, I saw the punch as a reaction. Not as an over reaction, I can tell you if you consider that a temper you haven't see anything. I can find plenty of five years olds who make that temper look like nothing. Saying that if the officer is not sent to anger management class because he punched a resisting suspect and he might turn into a cop that shoots kids for no reason is more rediculous than anything thing else said in the thread. LP I understand what your saying completely and agree that the police officer has to be held to a higher standard. I just don't think that the standard was broken with his actions.

i think that those black guys in the back round should of jumped that cop and arrested him. a cop punching a man in the face is something but hitting a girl is another. that cop should get his face stomped in or killed in my opinon. thats why hes a cop so that he can restrain people, they trained him for it and it looks like he has a hard time with that girls. thats really sad! how does he expect to take down a big guy who just robbed a bank? he got mann handled by that girl too. on one of the storys it also says that this isnt the first time that seatle police used excessive force on people of different color, thats saying that guy is most likely raciest. its cops like this guy who are crocked and make everyone mad about how cops act. all most all of the cops every where are scandalous and pieces of ***** and deserve to be dead. its hard to bump into a decent cop now a days
