Did this cop do the right thing?

cops are trained to restrain! bet you wont see that video on police camera action... why not .... cause he is in the wrong!!!

that punch could of broken her nose, cheek bone knocked her teeth out ... anything.
cs gas and tasers are there because they leave no lasting damage and are the most effective way of restraining an assailant.

he should of done what he is trained to do, or should not be a cop.

he must of knew people would get in his face when he took the job. what would he do if she got up or her friends got involved more, beat them all up? what when he calls in backup they just all have a fight??

not to mention she looked like a minor

just like a bouncer must use restraint to remove any trouble maker form the club and cannot simply punch a drunk in the face.

I think this video is disgusting and seriously hope that he lost his job. cops like him do the police no favours.

i cannot believe anyone can say he is in the right!!!

to protect and serve not beat up kids!!

dont get me wrong, the girl deserved it, but as a cop he must rise above it and do his JOB!!!
 
looks like he had a hard time restraining a woman lucky he didn't get mobbed. I can tell you this, if all those people were concerned with what had happened they why stand around and do nothing but record the event. I don't agree with the officer's reaction but I'm not one to stand around and watch.
 
really if u listen to the news the seattle police say that punching and hand to hand r some of the things they teach in their self defense courses. so he should not have a job for doing his job? so what if it was a 17 yr old she had assaulted him many times. so what if it was a girl so what if she was 17 so what if she was black she assaulted him she was lucky she didnt get a metal baton in the face he had all rights to put her down by any means possible short of deadly force .

so you would have jumped in? thats def not a smart move, even if its a family member. you risk getting shot, and if you survive the aftermath, a nice jail sentence. my life and my freedom is not worth defeding some punk kid who thinks they are above the law and got exactly what they deserved
 
to correct you, self defence is defence not punching in the face.
again even the baton would be to the leg and would leave less lasting damage than a punch in the face!!

should of used cs spray 10x more effective

i agree with policing but policing in this way is wrong.

for all you people saying he done the right thing, do you think this will be a training video for seattles finest..??

and heres how you take down a black girl going crazy!!

can he do it to his wife if she tries to hit him at home?

punching is a big part of self defense so is groin kicks, eye gouging.no matter how much bs we all talk it comes down to did he keep him self safe and like i said b4 the seattle pd say that is part of the training they teach
 
There is nothing that says a cop cant punch. I know plenty of cops. As for those of you that say he shouldve done something else, its real easy to secondguess someone when you are the one watching a video. He was the one at the scene. He had a angry mob around him and he had someone else come up while he was dealing with the first woman. He didnt know if she or anyone else had a weapon or what her intent was. The punch was a warning. Pepper spray was not a good option. Plenty of non involved people were around, and if youve used it before you know, youll get some of it too. You think he wants to impair his own eyesight under those conditions. The only reason this cop should be in trouble is because he sucks at restraining a suspect. If my skills were that bad I wouldve punched her alot more.

Everyone wants to say hes trained for this and trained for that. really? whats the politically correct warm fuzzy kumbaya way to deal with two violent people while surrounded by an unruly mob? This guy was in a potentially life threatening situation. Give hime a break. Why arent you all appalled at the stupid behavior of the two women and the crowd?
