Did this cop do the right thing?

I personally would have done the same thing, I think as a cop though he shouldn't have had to resorted to punching a woman in order to restrain them though. He should have been able to do it without any blunt force.

All of these videos are the same. People (kids and women get this attention) are smart mouthing a cop and instigating violence without being direct. Then they refuse arrest and keep shoving the cop away. Obviously there is no chance of them going peacefully and sometimes the cop's emotions take over. IMO it would be a hard stressful job. Most of the people they see don't want to see them, lie to them and challenge their decision.

I give this man an A+ for doing what any citizen should have done before what his job wants him to do.

Question is, when your car is stolen or your house burglarized, will you call them? Or will you stand by your convictions and refuse to call the "Nazis" for help? That will be the true test of how strongly you believe.
Too bad those of you that are so anti law enforcement cant register somewhere to refuse services. That way the cops wont waste resources trying to help you and ill get more value out of my tax dollar.

Are you serious? Are you serious? For starters the camera man needs to STFU obviously the police officer was serious, lucky he didn't kick your stupid butt.

This is how I see it.

1. We didn't see it all, so we can't really see if she antagonized him for 30 minutes or what was even happening before the video started.

2. I'm a white male in my 20's. I'm not racist, but being surrounded by several black men would have freaked me out....cop or not. I don't want to stereotype but they didn't exactly look like they were going to just leave the cop alone. I seriously thought half way they were going to grab his gun and all hell was going to break loose. Racist or not, it's how I felt when watching it.

3. Should he have punched her? No, but why is it that if it was two males he was pushing away and if he punched one of them it would hardly even be county news. If women want rights and be treated EQUALLY then if the cop feels if he is threatened he would have punched regardless of sex. Just as he did in the video! I hate how women want to be treated equally but oh noo I can't do that I'll break a nail or I'm not getting the carts it's raining outiside as the man walks out now to get carts.

I'll probably get an infraction if not worse.

I think cops should be more able to punch people. I personally would rather get punched in the face than pepper sprayed or tazered. I think cops are too quick to use these other methods when a good punch in the face can do the job. How often are people seriously injured from a punch in the face?

Unless you know the Use of Force continuum for his agency none of us can make valid assessments whether he was right or wrong. A women can hurt or kill you just as fast as a man. The young lady in the black shirt was an active resister he could have and should applied a higher level force than he was using to affect the arrest. The young lady in the pink shirt assaulted the Officer. Based on the training at my agency the strike was legit.

I wish there was a list I could put myself on to refuse service from the police too. Only if I lived in a perfect world.. Some people just feel safer with big brother watching over them but I can take care of myself and I certainly don't need the police.

I could also argue that you've been fighting an unjust war for the rich man. You certainly haven't been doing it for the U.S. citizens. It might be time to climb down from your high horse because just because you go around rocking the semper fi doesn't mean everybody's going to respect you. You're a murderer in my eyes.

^ wowzers, I think thats a completely unfair assumption on your part, I come from a family of marines and cops. you should judge people on their own merit, and not of a few individuals that may share the same uniform.
