To bad the lady did not know a bit of self defense.

let me get this straight, youre saying she should have known self defense so she can fight back with the officer? thats gotta be the dumbest thing ive read in this thread all day :screwy:

thank u djd and chef. though i disagree with the self defence chef. that would just make it worse.

I have not read the thread but will comment and then read

That cop needs to be trained in some basic basic basic manipulative moves. There was no way that he should have given her that cold cocked micky finn.

To bad the lady did not know a bit of self defense.

I think that cop will rue the day he punched her, especially in the light of the land of lawsuits today represents.
i dont get how he will rule the day when he had every right to defend himself and use the required force , sure a punch was not the best action but i will put you under pressure with to people baring down on you and see how well you react

Not saying all cops are perfect for the job but many anymore are afraid to do the job because of law suits, being undermanned, being under trained, being under equiped being underpaid. Not so a perfect job anymore to be the good guy getting the bad guy. Bad people beating the system or twistinig it beyond repair.
Get ready for anarcy & civil unrest in the future.

this is ridiculous.. should have called for back up. that's why they have women cops..the cops over here are different, they would have mobbed you down and had them cuffed quick. must have been a rookie.

The main issue here is that a punch to the face is not part of an officer's defensive tactic training. Officer's need to try their hardest to stick to their department's policies in order to maintain their integrity. Does a taser hurt a lot more than that punch to the face, yes. But police officers need to follow their policy and procedure.

That being said, I am not trying to criticize the officer. As I said in my last post, you can't just sit and watch the video and say he should have done something different, because you weren't in his situation. The situation he was in was very difficult. The majority of people would say he was not in grave danger. However, people are unpredictable, and how do we know that it would not have crossed that woman's mind to go for his weapon? He acted proactively in the situation, rather than being reactive and waiting until he was in even more danger to respond with a more drastic action.

where were u guys a few hours ago when this thread was in full swing. lol.

and i just wanna add that i know some people in law enforcement. my close friend does high-risk probation. he tells me stories all the time. and we've had this discussion several times, about doing what your trained to do vs. going into survival instinct when the time calls.

he says that regardless of what they tell you to do in training, if it comes down to it, he's gonna do whatever it takes to make sure he finishes the day alive. in his line of work they deal with some absolute scum bags while doing house raids. he's told me stories of when theyve had to go outside their "professional" standards and honestly, i dont blame him one bit.

see if he cares about your politically correct professional and ethical training tactics when his life is on the line. he has two daughters at home and you can bet your ass he'll do what it takes to see them at the end of his shift. ANYBODY, i dont care who you are, anybody that would say otherwise has NEVER been put in a situation like this. it's easy to say one thing, but when it boils down to it, i doubt youre gonna pull out your pocket manual on how to be a good cop when the heat is on.

tazed would be the only other thing....and that would been worse i woulda tazed everyone lol

police can punch if they feel they need to, and that is part of training, not first resort but can be used per policy
