Difference between the various Cichla species

Thanks Ric, which one's done you think would work? Like I said, nothing is written in stone. I know that the molly's will be food but hopefully, with enoth hiding places they can keep replenishing and the others will have a steady supply of love food to supplement the prepared diet.I figured that they all get around the same size, some even grow slowly that it should be OK, but I am asking you guys for advice because I value your experiences. I was also considering some wild caught angels.

If you're going to try plants java fern tend to be hardy. And you can anchor them to driftwood nicely. I'd recommend against angels, there's a good chance you're cichla will beat them up. Same with ctenopoma. That being said if you have a big enough tank (what size are you looking at?) and go with small docile cichla like kelbs it could work. Most people here keep cichla with aros, dats, polys, rays, etc. and even then you can have aggression problems.

Thanks guys, I could be mistaken about the ctenopoma, saw one on YouTube and that's what the guy said it was. It was good size however, scratch that idea. The thing with the angels was that I heard that they can get 10" and that wild caught were way more aggressive than captive bred, was even told that they could hold their own against fish comparable in size. The tank is going to be the 730 from glasscages, unless I find bigger around the same price.

Tank size in Inchs ? My kells will kill angels . Angles get 4-6 inchs including fins. Bass will kill them. And kells can be aggressive. Mine are.

Angels would not be safe during feeding time even at 10”. Cichla smash food like no other fish I have ever seen my bass injure themselves, each other and other fish who are competing for food during feeding time. My 2 Oscars (@10”) and one brokopondo have learned to stay away from where I drop the pellets in and patiently wait for pellets to float to them this would be the only way I would see angels cohabitating if they learn to wait and if they don’t become a target for aggression.

OK, scratch the angels and thanks for the suggestions, please keep them coming. BTW the tank is going to be 130". Here's the website: http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=47 Should I get the 730 which is 130" or the
375 long that is 144"? Any other suggestions for stocking? I really want the pbass, gibby, pike, bichir & dat. One thing about the bichir and pike, them being so thin and streamlined, I know that they get bulk after a while but?

730 is better if you can afford it. Some pbass get longer than the width of the 375.

730 would be better for them to turn around in.
