Candy stick thing , helps i think . Never tried it myself tho .

Basicly get some black electric tape and wrap it around to bulb so it going in a candy stick patten ( strips - bulb then tape then bulb then tape, ECT ) .

If that doesnt make sence to some people but does to others can the ones that do example it a little better as i cannt think of any other way .

Why not tint the glass?

Was thinking along those line, but i was worried i use something that might cause a major firey death to my family lol. I think if i have to i'll dish out for new bulbs if so any recommendations?

When I wanted to dim my 55 for my Rhom, I just cut aluminum foil to size in several pieces, then I just put the foil under the light on top of the tank cover. Works great, cheap, and very easy to play around with to get the desired dimness.

Yeah man sounds a good bit cheaper, ive had this tank since roughly june last year, its lid setup is pretty whack its quite difficult to customise as it comes with two main cover that come and the central light column the centre of which is supported by a beam running across the breadth of the tank.

put some pieces of foil below the light, a 6 inch strip every 6 inches, i did that on my old tank, looked alot more natural, less white.

I'm totally impressed. Most people don't know they exist. They are expensive as hell though.
equally impressed. I have seen a lot of people that are curious why their expensive fluorescent power saving bulbs don't work on their dimmers
(this is household experience but it is all relative I think)

did you say the tank is 200 liters? isnt that small for an oscar?

srry about the partail derail...
Someone always has to bring up this issue :nilly:. His lighting and his fish to tank size really are not correlated
