Here are both my piranha tanks and it shows the florescent bulbs on both tanks and the difference of dimming them..

As you can see how bright both lights are..

I took tin foil and tore est. 2''x2'' peices and put them under the light, along the whole length of the light..

You can see the difference it makes, and allows you to view them better, and makes them feel more comfortable with dimmer lights. They are the same photos with no flash.

Hope this is a good example.

Top Tank Nice, Bottom needs some TLC. Stop hatten on the one man... give it some tank love... renovate...

What exactly did you do???

Did u just put tin foil on the glass?

And what is on the bottom of the top pick.. Sand??

lol.. Whats TLC mean? What do you think I should add? More rocks, more wood? I thought elongs like alot of room..

I used tinfoil and put in on the glass under the lights, works well.

tlc, tender love and care... bottom tank needs plants, maybe a black back and floating plants... something to set it off.. top tank is just working.. I like it...bottom one is ok. but not show quality...

another small ?

wheres the fish?

is that your real peacock?? I have an ivory face peacock.. I just became a member yesterday.. so I got inspired and started taking pics last night to hopefully I can show you guys my little stuff..

That seems like a good idea. I was thinking about a way to make the light on my 55 with the Rhom in it dimmer. I was thinking about getting a flourescent light diffuser, but I might just try this. Does the foil get hot?

top tank need more dimmer and more hiding place.

bottom tank is good but need more wood and plants.

Aluminium or thin foil are good way to dimmed light. it get hot but doestn burn. Some use newspaper and it's bad idea. thin foil are best choice.

Do you think there's a chance of metal particles from the foil eventually contaminating the tank? I am always paranoid of things contaminating my tanks.

I just put foil in four different spots on my 4ft light strip, and it worked great it dimming the light.
