Dimness of light comparison

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no never have any problem with foil..if you put the foil between the lid cover and light you should be all set. make sure the foil are NEW and CLEAN.

There is also another natural way to dimmed the light is have lots of floating plants on top of your tank surface. or floating log wood with plants. piranha love to be cover with those and feel more comfortable, and also make your tank look natural.

electrical tape on the glass under the light works well, construction paper works, but the best thing i came up with is those colored plastic peechee's from office depot. just cut em to fit and there are alot of different colors that allow you to "tint" the light to get diferent effect's.

can we get some pics of the ps just wanna look i love a good piranha

beat me to the punch.:D

I think tin foil works the best and is cheap... I already had it in my kitchen.. Okay, I will take some bogwood out of my african tank and put it in my lower.. I dont have anymore plants atm... I will also dim my top tank more...

yea when i dimmed my lights i used the electrical tape and taped it up like a candy cane..

now i just use regular lights on a timer.. my Ps dont seem to mind it at all..

Ya, they wont mind, eventually.. But since mine are new, and lots of people experience skittish or shy piranhas the first few weeks or months, its not a bad idea.. Once my piranhas are use to the tank, I will take out the foil.

Use wax paper : ).. fold it over and over again untill it dimms the light to the desired level.. Btw i use it on my tank to diffuse the lights.. i know you have seen what my tank looks like so that should give you an idea.. From me to you, the best advice i can give you is: Put a flowerpot in the tank with a couple of fake plants in the corners, dim your lights and feed your Piranha krill.. has turned my brandtii into a complete monster..

Awesome, thanks... You can see in my top tank, there are plants and a peice of wood.. If I add anything else it will become ugly or crowded... With my bottom tank, I found a plant and a small pot, I will put them in and take a pic.
