Dinosaur Bichir or Peacock Eel

lol he is a little chubby ain't he. i've kept albino fish before and i don't really like them that much their plain if i had a choice i'd go with a regular sengal. bichirs can be active at times sometimes they're not. it just depends on their mood

Bichir. I have a regular Senegal on tan sand and he still looks gorgeous. I think that he has the most "personality" out of any of my fish (not counting the Fahaka I got four days ago.) My bichir is ten inches and will swim to the glass closest to me, and come right to the top to be fed. He's also pretty active and rarely hides in any of the caves or plants.

I have a senegalus and an endlicheri bichir, and also a tiretrack eel. Both types are active in their own way. I'm going to try to compare my experiences with them:

The bichirs just kind of swim around stupidly, and if they had a voice they would be saying "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" They have a lot of trouble catching a fish right in front of them, but they pig out on food at the bottom.

While the eel doesn't swim from place to place much, it follows me around the tank, poking its head around things. It's one of the most interactive fish I've owned, and the only one that prefers to eat from your hand. That is, unless you feed them live fish. Then they simply pluck them from the water column with little effort!

I love both kinds of fish, and I think you need both. However, if I had to choose one to keep it would be the TT eel

this was extremely helpful! ill see if i can scrounge around enough money for both lol

if i have to get them at separate times, which do you think first? Like do they have territory issues or anything?

LMAO...
See now if we were talking about a TT eel I would of said that, but I'd recommend a little bigger of a tank for one of them;)
If you're going to go that route nothing beats a Fire eel.

I have never owned a peacock eel, but I assumed they would behave like other spiny eels. Is that not true?

It all depends...
I had a peacock that hid all the time and one that was out a majority of the time.
I thought zig zags would hide the most and mine was out as much as my TT and fire eel.

all fish have their own personalitys if you get one it might be really active or not

Well all the ones at the shop all hide under the stuff in the tank but i assumed that it would stop doing that so much in a more comfortable tank without the stress of being in a pet shop
