Dinosaur Bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2 Pictus and 1 striped raphael

and once again in the tank i have 2 pictus, 1 raphael cat, 2 tinfoils, 1 brown featherfin, 1 green sunfish, 1 rope fish, 1 angel, 1 CAE, 1 Pleco and of course the bichir

I probably would drop the pleco and the CAE. Theres alot of bottom dwellers in your tank, plus these 2 fish are a threat to the Bichir (they can suck the Bichirs slime coat).

You could leave the 2 tinfoils, they could work as dithers, provide some extra activity in your tank etc. But they could wind up dead/eaten later, but its possible for them to be OK.

Maybe drop the Angel, but if you really like it, keep it. You could probably add another mid/upper swimming fish since you got alot of bottom dwellers.

If you drop another bottom dweller you can substitute with aother upper swimming fish. It will kinda balance the tank out. But I dont know how you feel about your fish.

how would the tinfoils get killed, they get huge?

How big are they now?

Some of those fish are predatory so if they can fit in their mouth the tinfoils could be eaten. Although they are fast, so thats why I said they could be alright.

the tinfoils are 4" long now and the bichir is barely 3" long

Most of all bichir species get over 14". For excample Polypterus Endlicheri Endlicheri and Polypterus Endlicheri Congicus.

hello,
dino bichir are usually grown up to ~12" I use to have one and it chased my needlefish around then my needlefish bit it so it didn't chase it anymore.

What you should be concerened about is nothing until it grows up. Then the majority of your fish would be in danger.

hope this helps!

they can get about as big around as a coke bottle

Are you sure? I thought that Senegalus doesn't get as big as endlis and ornates? I thought that they were the thinnnest of all of them as well. I could definitely be wrong, but I would like to know the answer as I recently bought 3.
