dirty lfs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thumbs up to the grammar comment. I was going to stay the same.
Additionally, I wouldn't expect independently owned fish stores to give a guarantee. They are only damaging their own image if they are selling poor quality, unhealthy fish.
Once the fish leaves the store, it becomes the responsibility of the purchaser.

I work at the Lfs. We have a 3day guarantee on fish under 9$ and we have that for the newbies getting a guppy or Molly. For repeat business and not put off newcomers to the hobby. You must bring back your water for testing along with the deceased. Fish morethan 9$ we must test your water before selling to give you the 3day. No guarantee is offered on stingrays arowanas elephant nose fancy plecos or anything over 50 bucks. That is because being an independent store, we cannot Afford to give away an arowana because someone didn't acclimate the first one properly. Research the fish you buy beforehand, ask to see the fish eat and if you feel unsure make them test their water in front of you. Fish get sick from shipping we know that ill tell you if something is sick or not and let you know not to buy it till its better. You come to my shop I'll do all the above. But it's your job as a buyer to make the final call and judge if you think it's healthy. I'd say always ask to see a fish eat. And don't expect any guarantee on arowanas or expensive fish. It's livestock and things happen, but lfss are there to make money not give away fish because the customer wasn't careful with their fragile baby Aro.

Did you test the LFS water? If their water is very aged and saturated and yours is fresh, longer acclimation is necessary.

Acclimation means nothing...in my OWN experience. Thats why personally I dont care for too much info on "What's Right". If you have any experience in this hobby you know that there is NO right or wrong way as long as it works for you.

All my fishes that I get shipped in Priority 3 days time, I just cut bag and droppem in my tank. I feel that the fishes are suffocating in the bags so sooner they get in my tank the better.

well i know where not to let off steam about a piss poor business and if i wanted to be perfect with grammar i would have became an english teacher so bash my writing all you want you high and mighty internet nerds

I agree acclimation isnt as big of a deal if they are being shipped because yess, 3 days in a bag they probably are suffocating and any new water is going to be better than what they are in; But spending 30 minutes in a bag isnt harmful to the fish and it could be better to take time introducing them into different water than what they came from.

just because i dont have alot of posts doesnt mean i am an idiot with fish i have been doing it for 12 years

so, now your bashing an entire website for lousy service, I think I am starting to see a pattern... LOL... good luck with the next fish.

thanx to everyone that wishes me luck next time im getting a bigger fish

3" aros are really sensitive. Was it healthy and eating at the LFS? If yes, then it was healthy... If no, then you shouldn't have bought it.

Either way, you weren't ripped off.

What is their posted policy on deaths?

Matt
