My 125 is not staying clean i am doing my weekly water changes, cleaning the gravel everything but it still manages to stay couldy. Today i bought 4 new filters, and did another w ater change....what may be the problems? thanks
i just replaced the existing filters however they were pretty much 1 month old...ive had the tank goign for about 2 months now...and just recently it just...stays cloudy...
Your filter media grows beneficial bacteria that breaks down waste into less harmful chemicals. If you replace or wash all the media, then there is nothing to break down the waste and the water gets cloudy.
Your tank is still cylcing, and by replacing the media you've just put it back to square one. Clean your filters by rinsing them with aquarium water as you're doing WCs...
What size tank?
What are the fish, size how many?
What is your current filter(s)?
Do you test your water parameters, such as ammonia, nitrite, nitrates and pH?
Providing the above info will help in you receiving the best advice.
i agree with simon i made this mistake on my first tank. you should just do water changes and follow the filter cleaning tips above and idt should clear up soon
So i did tests on my water today everything was perfect except the phosphates they were higher than the chart could go... so the lady at the petstore recommended phosphate filter pads, so i bought those to put in the filter and some of the tetra clear water drops she said in 24 hours the tank should clear right up, i hope so...what do you guys think?
I would find out what is causing the high phosphates then, usually it's because of tap water but if you're using RO already then it's something else . But that's my suggestion as any type of chemicals you use for it will just be a band aid.
