Has anyone ever had a fish just disappear? I had recently added an OB Peacock to my 4ft tank not too long ago and bought him big enough to endure the crap he might get from the other guys for being new. Any how long story short he's now gone. I cleaned the tank taking every rock out thinking he might have hid and died somewhere and nothing. He was one of the bigger fish in the tank so there's no way he was eaten completely. I've since rescapped the tank a few times and nothing. Cleaned all around the tank and no remains anywhere on the outside if he jumped out. He just kind of disappeared...

The only logical theory I can come up with is that he jumped out of the tank through one of the small openings, flopped around on the carpet, sparked the curiousity of my dog and got eaten. Weirdest thing to happen involving my tank to date. Guess he didn't like his new home.

I have had it happen. I assume the same thing except I know it was most likely my ferrets that stole and ate some aquarium fish that jumped out haha.

I've lost fish, but only tiny things that were probably eaten by the others.
I once lost a dwarf gourami, and then found the skeleton a month later during a tank rearranging. The ribs had been knocked out (presumably by eagerly foraging cories nibbling the guts), but otherwise it was intact and quite clean. I still have it somewhere.

I also had a fiddler crab climb out of a tank. 6 months later I moved something in the bedroom and he was under it(dead and dried up).

I had a fish disappear for a couple months. It just showed up in the same tank healthy one day after I had spent countless hours trying to find it. I believe it was abducted. UFO's, aliens and all that garbage.

I put 3 clown loaches in a 40gallon breeder. Once I released them from the bag. I never saw them again.
LOL!

Ah no....someone stole your fish, kept it for a while and then snuck it back into tour tank

At least they looked after it well :P

Not a missing fish, but i've been finding random fish bones in my tank? Nothing's died in there...I think they came in with the new sand.
