Disaster goodbye tanganyikan and others tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay. Well I have bever used dechlor in my tank so dosing the entire tank is okay. Its only 3 cap fulls for me. Not that much as it treats 50g at a time per capful or 5ml. I bought 3 500ml bottles. Will be changing water then adding dechlor then putting in new aged water.

one more time-1 remove old water 2-add dechlor to water in buckets 3- add dechlorinated water to tank
123-it's easy as abc

You are obviously confusing seachem prime (no bacteria) with stability(had bacteria). Api has bull crap aloe vera that just contains potassium which can lead to white algae outbreak. Besides I use seachem safe which is just a powder please don't tell me that has bacteria too lol. Prime is just that with a Liquid stabilizer

I'm surprised people still change their water with buckets, dechlor doesn't really cost that much, imagine using buckets to change water in 100+ gal tanks or multiples for that matter, you'd drive yourself crazy.

Not everyone does it the bucket way. It's perfectly normal to dose for entire tank. If you use a python you dose for entire tank. A capful does 50 gallons so my 180 gallon just needs 4 capfuls and there's a boat load of capfuls in a container of prime. Also stability has the good bacteria in it Prime does not.

Sorry if Im old fashioned with buckets but its just the way I've done things and so far its been alright fish are happy. Doesn't drive me crazy but active. I really could not wait around for draining and filling with a siphon. If I get a good deal here sure I'll get it but other than that im looking to spend $60 for a siphon.your guys' help was really informative and helpful. Thank you.

..but if you add water first, you are adding chlorine to your fish.I use a python to drain and use it to fill my buckets.why is that so hard?......the prime i'm talking about is the liquid kind that smells like ass!..I use 20 drops of api dechlor for every 5gallon bucket.no problem.

maybe you're lazy!get some exercise!lol....btw-when you have a crapload of tanks, dechlor can get costly.I don't like poisoning my fish, even for a minute either, and I'm not too lazy to lift a few buckets!

Dude. I took your advice how many times do I have to say it. Yes I remove the water first put dechlor in all the buckets then put the dechlored water in the tank. I JUST TREATED THE WHOLE TANK AS IT HAS NEVER BEEN DECHLORINATED BEFORE JUST TO GET ALL THE NASTY STUFF OUT. Your getting mad about the type of dechlor people have been telling me which is not the main point here. Its as easy as abc no need to be hostile. :)

Thousands of people dose for entire tank and put the water in using the python. Their fish are fine. The Prime website says it's fine and people have done it this way for quite awhile with no adverse effects. I have a 180 gallon tank and I change 50% weekly. Thats's 90 gallons. What am I suppose to do....fill 30 (3) gallon buckets. That crap isn't happening. I used to have more tanks too. If you want to use the bucket method then by all means do it I used to back when I first got into fish keeping. Also Prime isn't expensive. I spent 10 bucks for a bottle that doses for 2500 gallons. That's 3 months of use for my 180 gallon and the bigger the bottle the more bang for the buck. Another thing yes I know what it smells like, you put it in the tank and close the bottle....who the hell sniffs it all day.lol. It seems you have something againt Prime. Don't use it....no reason to bash it though. I would bet my paycheck that most MFK people use Prime and it's not because it smells like butt so don't worry.
