It turn out that my "38" gallon tank was actually a 30 gallon! BUMMER!!

i havent been ****. thankfully i havent seen any problems yet. ill definately have to change the ammount of stuff i add. like salt and conditioner and whatnot. that didnt even cross my mind. thanks

Since you're tank is BIGGER than what you thought, dosing 20 gallons less than what you should be probably won't make too much of a difference.

Now for the bad news. Measure the inside dimensions including the water line, now you'll be back down to 200 or less.

in inches Length x width x height divide by 231 will give you actual.

came out to 218.18181818181818181818181818181818181818181818....

same thing lol. and yeah i figure that the decor and sand and other factors probably brings it down to 200 again. but either way, its better than it being brought down to 180 or less lol

Yeah you get the same if you use the 84x24x25" dimensions. For actual volume use interior dimensions and actual water height. One you have actual tank volume you can then figure out for decor and substrate.
