Discus + Arowanna?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just make it a goal species bro when you get a little bit more experience and a proper sized tank. My dad really wanted one too and I had to explain to him over a dozen times it wasn't going to work in his tank. Now he's glad he didn't get one I think.
I still think he should put an 8 foot long, 4 foot wide tank where his 100 gallon is now! And put couches around it. :D Been working on that one for a while. Put that idea in his head and you can take care of his aro. ;)

Yeah, I have a 300 and I wont keep an arrow because I know its just not going to be big enough for life. Love the fish, but can't properly house it, so i dont. They just get too long for most tanks......

60"x16"x26"
length,width,height

That'll make an awesome discus tank, actually you could keep an arowana upto about 16" in your tank. Problem is getting rid of a silver that size may be a problem. There are usually a few available as others aretrying to also get rid of that size as many of them realize that they can't be kept is standard 4' tanks. If you do decide to for it, maybe go with a black as it would be easier to rehome. The black aro is less common and a bit more of a challenge to raise.

A pic of my black aro, & discus from a few years back.

BTW this was a 120g 60x18x26" tank

I have Adult discus in with my 14" Blue aro in my 225. All the nay-sayers are entitled to their opinion, but i enjoy watching them peacefully swimming together..

i like this pic! lots of nice color!
