Discus...Boring or Not?

Discus are great fish. The biggest reason people stop keeping them, is because they slack off, and start losing them, or they start deteriorating due to poor diet.
20 in a 180 is really really to much, they need there space. I would get 6/8 max. for a 180. You will really be able to enjoy them more because they got the space to act natural. Get some bogwood wich they can stand under for them as well, they will really thank you for it by being more active as they feel secure.
The general rule of thumb is 1 adult discus per 10 gal.

A tank that big with that few discus, will generally result in stunted discus. Discus can stunt by poor water parameters, and not enough, or poor quality of food. However, they also stunt from burning off too many calories.Loubard;1478841;1478841 said:

It does when fish are territorial, such as discus. The different discus will learn to stay away from another discus' territory, which reduces the space they have to swim.

Oh yeah, discus are NOT boring at all. I have had in the past, and have now, many different fish species. Both marine and freshwater. Even reef tanks. Which are certainly the "money sucking black holes" of the hobby. I must say I enjoy discus the best.
