Discus breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't try it you simply don't have the room to breed and raise the juvies properly

I have a 15 gallon, is that not enough space for discus fry? I can also remove the plants.

it will be enough for about 2 weeks then what?

30/40 breeder tanks would be ideal for a breeding set up. If in fact you get fry you can start off with a 15g but you will eventually need a bigger tank for the grow outs 29, 30 or anything in between 55-75g. I go from a 30 to a 55. Do it right or don’t bother!

I have a 15, 37, and 29 gallon tanks for freshwater.

Once again don't do it you Don't have room

Just how many babies will they have?

Does it matter? If you don't have room you don't have room. Like I said learn to raised some Discus before you try to breed.

It kinda does because it would be less space to raise 50 than 200. Also I did raise discus before and if it weren't for a 3 day power outage I would still have them.

it would make a difference if you had room for a small batch but you dont have room period. and like i said LEARN to raise them. anyone with any experience or knowledge would know 15g tank is way too small.

but since i know where this will head ill save everyone time....

yes you can do whatever you please so go ahead and do whatever you were planning to do. (is that what you wanted to here?)
