I plan on 2 - 3 50% water changes per week, as well as a ~40 gallon sump. I havent decided the filtration yet. What are "BNs"?

So would the stocking work, unchanged? Someone on another site said that they had a similar setup with like twice as many fish that thrived, so shouldn't this work?
 
thanks - however, as i said earlier, i do not really the look of them too much, so if there are any alternatives, i would prefer those.
 
Would zebra plecos work? I know that they arent entirely herbivorous, but they should eat some algae, and the rest i can scrape. But are they compatible?
 
zebras are very herbivorous at all. I'd be suprised if they'd bother with algae unless they are starving. they also prefer faster flows than you'd usually offer in a discus tank.
 
okay - at another site someone said that otos are usually fine if they are well fed. Assuming i fed them well, and was prepared to move them to another tank if a mishap occurred, would otos be worth trying?
 
I bought 12 ottos for my 125..........I'm down to about 6 after 6 months........sometimes they just die?? I can tell you that after about 4 months one of the smallest ottos decided he liked dicus slime..........he would go after them and try and suck on their sides............I pulled that otto and put him in a 30 gallon shrimp tank and he's still alive and doing fine............the remaining 6 eat algae and leave the fish alone............you just have to watch them I guess?
 
if you don't enjoy the look of bristlenoses, bulldog plecos have just as mild a disposition. Clown plecos also do a great job of algae cleaning, but only at night, and they hide so well you need a school to see them.

Also, Corydoras Sterbai simply rock - I know of discus keepers who have kept them up to 85 degrees and seen no ill effects on their personality or fecundity.
