like I said, don't wanna get into it with you. When I said ferts I meant dosing daily or weekly with liquid ferts, sorry! As far as the poo goes, My plants only take up 1/4 of the bottom space, so I vacuum 3/4 of the tank and leave the rest......like I said plant work to a degree, you can't tell someone that plants will make up for water changes.....Sorry for not being clear, I tend to post broad generalizations, since there are many things that work in this hobby, my bad!..................My tanks work for me, yours, I'm sure work for you.........and the OP's tank will come into it's own and be a joy I'm sure.........:)

Oh and of course it's a Discus thing, It's a planted DISCUS tank! You have to find a balance right?:nilly: Sorry for posting pics of my tank in the thread, didn't mean to hijack:(

Photos are always welcomed in this thread.:)

Post away, anyone is welcome to share this is a community after all, no need to apologize, plus it keeps master tequila busy with his new freaking out campaign;)

Your right though what ever works for you is the best way to go, I had no way to go so I asked and followed the offered method and it is working, slowly but it will get there in the end.

And it IS a discus thing;)

Been a couple of weeks now thought I would send a few pics up :

The fish seem to enjoy the lose plant hence why it still floating:)

The tank and fish look great. I used to keep discus in my 125 and looking as some of the pics makes me want to get them again. I read through some of the responses and would suggest plants like crypts, anubias, java fern, and even a tiger lilly. All of these plants don't need a lot of light and are easy to care for. I'm not sure if you can get these plants but its just a suggestion and is what I started with and still have today. Good luck and keep us posted.

Great tank, the fish look really happy... I may start keeping Discus, you use RO water?

Thank you:)

Yes, ro water is used, with tropic marin pro discus mineral. Our tap water is very poor. In fact the the water is so bad, the needle clamp intake has got so full of lime scale and other rubbish that's started to leak and at the moment I can't get any decent pressure through the system because of this. I've a new one on order I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

How long would you say the needle clamp intake has lasted? ... just trying to estimate its lifetime under the conditions determined by your tap water...

About 12 months, they're not expensive, the new one only cost £3.50 about 175 MUR
