DISCUS TANK "Doing it the MFK way"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The fruity pebbly ones (great description, btw) are the ones that initially drew my attention, and boy are they colorful. But I wanted to keep Discus with my other favorite fish - the eartheaters - and a cartoon brightness just doesn't match. Some day I'll have enough tanks that I'll have all varieties.

Lots of vendors have great ones. Hans has some exceptional specimens of domestics, and Kenny Cheung as well.

Joey, if you ever locate some Curipea/pera do please let me know... they're my favorite too. Looks like Hans had some (for $250 a fish!) last month, though none were quite as richly colored as those ones.

I'm a fan of these 5th gen captive bred ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CJiKGCryFw

But the red of a more normally colored one still stands out nicely under good light, so I am perfectly content to save a ton of money and buy from John.

Jose, Dale has some incredible Inanu and other red F1s, but they are like 2-3" tops. And the work involved with raising discus fry trumps any work needed to keep wild adults... My time over at Simply has taught me that a lot of the concern about wilds and super soft water etc is myth. They may not breed, but they'll be just fine, health-wise.

I was so close to pushing the button last month with that recent Hudson group buy....

That is probably the nicest discus tank I have EVER seen!!!
