Feeders are unhealthy. Did you buy this fish cause you like fish or did you buy it to see it eat feeders? Would it hurt you to feed it something else? It would be healthier with other food.

Wasnt being a smart ass but it seems your pretty good at...

Thank you slippery K for the actual info. But he's really stubborn doesnt seem to like the other things ive put in the tank. Granted i havent tried much. Bloodworms & Krill. I havent fed him in 2 days and last night I put a block of Blood worms in there and he very reluctantly tried them but spat them back out. But then later tried them again. But ive also read bloodworms have no nutritional value. I was thinking of trying to catch earthworms in the yard. Is that a good idea. Also He seemed to be itching last night. A bit more active than normal. Rubbing his side along the rocks and sorts. Not a ton but very casually.

Try some earth worms (dont make it his main diet), my rck loves talapia and fresh shrimp. Occasionally he'll eat some silver sides but doesnt seem to be his favorite. You could also try floating or sinking pellets. I usualy pack his shrimp with pellets as they are too small for him to eat singaly. If he spits everything out, dont worry and keep trying, eventualy he will eat. Also try feeding at night when hes more active. As for the peeling im not sure what it could be, iv never had an issue like that. Try posting on wetwebmedia, its like a fish doctor site lol

Stay in check with annomia because all my fish died one time because annomia was high, also when my fish died it looked like if the slime coat was falling off.

It also looks like velvet to me as well. You did say that it scratches at the decor correct? Velvet can cause thr same symptoms ad ick without the salted look

Im reluctant to add salt. I read a post on here that said to NEVER ever add salt for a knife fish. But i will take another pic i believe its starting to clear up. He hides so much.

Also i tried worms last night. He had no interest in them. I will keep trying though.

My ck eats cooked shrimp (size 150-200/lb), krill, and floating cichlid pellets. It took it about 4days of offering before it got hungry enough to try them. It will now eat any of them at any given time

You may also want to raise the temp on the tank to 83° just in case it might be ich. Don't forget to increase your air (O2 saturation decreased the warmer the water)
