dislocated oscar jaw. need advice!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
tank need a clean???

why is your tank so green? Are your nitrates, ammonia, etc really all 0? Keep it in the dark and do some w/c

my tank is a fully cycled tank. nitrites and ammo are all 0. algea does not mean that a tank is dirty, in fact algea helps to keep ammo, nitri, and nitra levels down. algea is good for fish.
my question is not about how to keep my tank clear.(i don't really mind it that way)
please stick to the question of how to help my oscar get his jaw back in place.

You can't really do anything about it other than wait. I'm serious about that Pbass. his jaw is a REAL mess and he's growing faster than any of his siblings. The pictures you posted are of relitivly minor damage. if your worried about the pellets then soak them first. Try to get them soft but not quite to the liquid stage.

yeah, thanks man.
i thought that manuvered poping jaw back thing was pretty wacko.
and would feeding him hard big pellets be of any help in popping it back?

Actully large pieces of soft meat...like market shrimp would probubly be better. but you only GUESS its dislocated...if anythings broken then your running the risk of making it worse.

probably hit the glass because he cant see :screwy:

actually, my oscar has a crooked jaw from ramming the glass when he was younger. he's always been fine. He'll probably always have a slightly crooked jaw now. Unless he's lucky and it actually straightens up while healing.

Either way, if he's using it, dont worry.

This used to happen to my friends and his always went back to normal in lik a week
