got a juvenile and i want him to come out a little more so what kind of dither fish do you guys recommend to bring him out of hiding all the time?

im sure a large school of small feeders would bring him out of his shell:naughty:

something fast and expendable, but also relatively small...thats why I also think giant danios are a good bet unlike larger growing fish like silver dollars as dithers

None of my dithers with my jags had the desired effect, so I'm interested in what others have to say as well.

Bichirs didn't work, she leaves them alone but still hides just as much.
Buenos aries tetras worked for a bit but she only came out to strike them.
With my cutteri she hid constantly and seemed uninterested.
She ate all my giant danios within hours.
And Odessa Barbs (about @"+ a piece) didn't work because the bichirs ate them when they went to sleep on the bottom.

Minnow-like fish are a definite fail with jags IMO.
Silver dollars or other high-bodied fish would probably work but I can't bring myself to try it as I find silver dollars extremely unattractive.

dithers work only sometimes.
i found my jag just killed them and went back to his normal self.
the only solution is getting another cichlid that can defend itself.
convicts are good because they can be mean mother F*c#ers
