I agree. But make sure you quarantine them first.

definitely, please dont put unquarantined feeders in there as they may pass parasites to your jag, i would put anything in there that is small yet really fast to give the jag a run for its money, iv never had cons but alot of people use them as dithers because they can usually defend themselves pretty well and then when they breed their fry are used as food

got a juvenile and i want him to come out a little more so what kind of dither fish do you guys recommend to bring him out of hiding all the time?
How big is the tank?

well if you are getting dither fish just to get him out of his cave more, if say dont get dither fish just starve him alittle, he'll start coming out looking for food. jmo

right now i have a juvenile in a 55 gallon then i will put him in a 100-125 once he outgrows this tank. so, so far convicts seem like the best bet, i was just wondering can both of them live happily in a 55 gallon? or would they just fight to death

well as long as its not a breeding pair of cons they should be fine together imo

i would do the cons idk how many though but if more than 1 i would get a pink con and a normal con ( idk just picks look cool )

try two phases of dithers
first small quick ones that can easily escape such as giant danios
second try larger dither like silver dollars

Ive had fish that will kill the smaller ones just because they can but leave larger ones alone
and vice versa

not convicts at this size. maybe when he's bigger. i think that tiger barbs would work better while it was smaller, and when it out grew those thats when i'd put in the convicts

If he's a juvenile now, I'd go with the Giant Danios as well. I have them in a couple tanks and they do okay. They're fairly fast, and mine are now about 3"+. Sooner or later inevitably they'll become food, but they stay near the top, and they are constantly moving. I've got a couple 9" Oscars who just hate 'em!
