Dither fish for my jaguar?

i picked up a convict, little did i know that it was a female! so my jaguar is chasing it around and nipping at its tail. should i return it for a male?will she defend herself later on or should i pick a male convict?
oh, well my jag is not relentlessly attacking the convict just chasing it and nipping it from time to time. I have established 2 territories for both fishes
my fish is very happy now! the convict was a very good idea! both fishes are hanging out but the jag is a food hogger haha.
The same thing happened with my Midas. It would hide all the time. After adding 2 Convicts, the Midas was a total food hog and would come out all the time. Well the problem was the 3/4" Convicts had ideas of mating and terrorized the tank. The Midas who was twice the size was getting chased around! I pulled the Convicts and took them back to the store. Now my Midas eat like a hog still and comes out all the time.

yeah he hogs the food, now the convict is starting to fight back and squaring off with the jag! seems like my jag is backing down but i wouldnt know got to see more first
