I went with odessa barbs. They are doing a great job so far. I only have 5 atm, so I think I'm going to get at least 3 more. Sometimes the males will even get the courage to try to chase the cichlids, until they get closer that is, lol.

Those get 4 inches long max and stay right it the cichlid territory right near the bottom of the tank. I'd return them imo, but up to you.
