Yah my bf has a cool 3-4-5mm wet suit, thicker in areas that are further away from the body. I have a surf suit also mine is a 2-3mm suit.

I also had a snorkel but this big B kicked my head and kicked it off my face and down 95ft my snorkel went >__< brand new too.

Well I will just tell you the story, and I will also add in a lesson:

Lesson #1,2,3 etc.: Always eat a good healthy LIGHT breakfast. Always carry motion sickness pills and GINER... GINGERale, GINGERsnaps anything GINGER its like a motion sickness counteractive. Dont trust people with cameras and dont sniff diesel fuel LOL. Love your compass.. I love mine. Also.. always know your equipment. Dont dive with annoying people. I could go on..

Boat Dive (The Big B): (Quickie.. my first boat dive I got sick after wiffing in diesel fuel and had a bad breakfast of Donuts and orange juice. - dont do that!) The good stuff. Well we leave the doc and this time I got my pills, ate bananna and grapes. Get on the boat and this is just a fun dive time. Well we go on the same boat... but I found the perfect place to stand away from diesel fuel lol. I am all happy dandy then we get delayed... why? Someone dumped either a body/drugs/weapons off a bridge and the cops blocked it looking for the items (I'll post pics after this story). We finally get around them and head out.. yes into more CHOPPY water but I was ok this time... If I feel it I have a good mindset to get over it, a lot better then the first time haha. Well there is a kid on the boat blabbing and he wont shut up and his mom thinks that her son and her are the most IMPORTANT people ever on that boat, got annoying. Well it comes time to dive. The purpose of this dive was looking for Lemon Sharks and Ship Wrecks. The first 2 ship wrecks were AMAZING esp. to glide over them drift diving. WOW. Also saw some HUGE grouper. Well we get out and that dive is over and we are on the boat for an hour and so many min. I did ok I felt a little woozy here and there but held up. Well it's time to dive, for Lemon sharks!! I am excited and jump in, well bad news.. first diver that hit the bottom scared them off >__< SO MAD. Anyways we dive the pillings found some large Goliath grouper and it was fun. Well we get to the top and the boat comes around... well I swam for it got to the ladder tried to pull myself up... and this stupid all important B was behind me and SHOVES me off the ladder... >__< and as I drift with the current behind her she kicks and hits me in the head and knocks my snorkel off.. I was sooo MAD. Then I go again and get to the ladder (she's pissed b/c I didnt let her son go), well I get stuck on the ladder my foot wrapped around the ladder (fin friendly ladder) and the current was to strong I couldnt get it off so I was there for a good 5 minutes before I was pulled up... o__o that was crazy, then the lady *****es about me going before her son lol, after she shoved me off and knocked my snorkel off. Well not only did she not apologize she didnt even offer to buy me a new one after I commented I HAD just bought it (my scuba instructor was nice enough to offer but I said no to her cuse its not her fault). Anyways the lesson of that story is... watch for currents, ladders and big B's.

Now that I feel better I'll post some pic of that police area: *Click picture to enlarge and you can see what I wrote lol*

Another cool thing about diving is all the toys! Bangerang, it looks like you have the new version of the same fins I have (blue ones, the pink fins belong to my wife).

Ash, that is a nice gauge console - I still use an old analog pressure/depth gauge.
That sounds like some great diving! (until the ladder incident) Florida has some incredible Cavern Diving as well, I've heard.

I like it but I ve had to go over the manual a few times b/c the time clock seems to want to stop lol. I always do my tables just incase. I personally would rather have an old non-digital consule and a watch =] less things to mess around with.

Never seen anywhere for cavern diving... yet, I did talk to someone who has done cave and sinkhole dives down here. I would like to cavern dive one day =]

great story ash, im saying when you got off the boat you shoulda put the pieces on her face.

Ash and dan what type of equipment do you own? such as BC,reg, fins, mask?!

I'm not sure if I own two pieces of equipment from the same manufacturer..

My BC is a SeaQuest PROQD
My regulator is ScubaPro
My tanks are OMS steel 66's
My mask is Atomic Aquatics (incredible company, great customer service)
My snorkel is from Ocean Master
My fins are Mares
My wetsuit is Excel
My drysuit is Apollo
My hood is White's
My booties are Henderson
My gloves are Scuba XS
My camera housing is from Top Dawg (got it cheap on craigslist!)
My lights are Underwater Kinetics

Nope, not two things from the same manufacturer. :(

just started reading my book I get so amped reading it and my wetsuit still has not come in.. bout to be angry.

thanks lol when I get home I will look but I dont own my own bc or reg's yet. Got as far as the dive computer for now lol it's very expensive and I dont make miuch =]

Solo diving isn't against the law. While PADI discourages it, SDI offers a Solo-Diver Certification. I dive solo occasionally, I actually like the freedom it allows.

That said, most people don't feel comfortable without a buddy (and a divemaster, for that matter). I would recommend asking around at local dive operators, they will usually be able to pair you up for a dive.

You're in California, home to some really good diving, so you should take advantage of it! :)

During training, they told me it was illegal in California, but I just recently found out that another buddy of mine that I used to work with is certified. We're trying to figure out a time and place to go on a beach dive.

I've always wanted to learn to be a pro scuba diver. But would rather do it in the ocean, rather than the dirty lakes here.

You need to find the right lake to go in. Some are pretty clear. We went last weekend North of town. Little chilly still at 49F surface temp. At 25 feet there was a nice temp line and it actually hurt going colder. I didn't have the nice 7mm suit everyone else had.... just my old worn out 2mm. :screwy:
