Egg crate with flat bottom for support and is cut PVC tube in half to prevent the egg rate from scratching the acrylic pane. It's sturdy enough to keep 22-23" rays lol

That's a good design, I'll copy the idea. my floor is not flat though as i have glass bracing on the tank floor (i think they did that to make the base stronger). I was just thinking of a quick sandwich of the plastic panel in between two magnets so it holds its place.

That looks good. I have made one now out of PVC pipe and plastic netting that is sold to cover ponds to stop Herons getting to the fish. Also used the idea of plastic pipe to stop the glass getting scratched.

using magnets doesnt work for rays as they move stuff about too much.

i use bread crates. .... no i didnt spell it wrong . i said bread crates.

the crates shops have bread delivered in. the drivers dont like picking them up and they are often left outside anywhere that sells bread. there are a few types but the one i use has a reasonably fine "mesh" im sure you will know whats suitable when you see it .

i got a few that were sitting around for weeks . chopped the edges off with a jigsaw and used tiewraps to hod them together.
if you want a structure you can add pvc pipe cut and drill it so that it reinforces the structure in a triangle formaton.

worked well for me and after "stumpy" i now always use this when im expecting pups and have not had any incidents since.

that looks great. the suction cups are strong enough against the rays and fish?

I love the bread crate idea, I'll have to try it next time my male gets a little too ruff

Was wondering that too

the acrylic was a perfect fit and have multiple cleaning magnets holding the top section (tank support frame/brace where the lids sits on) as well. the front is supported by magnets used in wavemakers. the suction caps alone are weak as the rays can easily knock it off.

i have no luck with magnets and suction cups. they are forever moving or falling off.
you should be able to find something in the local diy store though and put holes in it.

ive used the poly carb sheeting before and put loads of holes in . the bottom of breadbaskets is my favorite though. big and quick. get a few and use cable ties / zip ties and they work a treat.
