I bought a new filter for the new tank. Can I run the new filter on my old tank to get it going first? How long do I have to run it this way? It is a 560 gph canister 4 stage and UV filter. I have it hooked up so it is getting the water from the undergravel filter on the old tank. I figured it would cycle faster that way. As far as the tank it has been water testing for about 2 weeks now. There are no leaks and it is not bowed at all. You can go to sleep now. If you are worried about my floor holding it I have installed a steel H beam and floor suport in my basment.

Not sure i am correct here but 3/8 is equal to 10mm, nearly all 6x2x2 tanks over here are made from 10mm, even 8x2x2. Although the 8x2x2 would have a double base.

As for the new filter on old tank to get going, i think it will still take a good 6 week to get going, but i could be wrong.

I wanted to have the tank ready to be a x-mass present for my discus' and ray's but the heaters are still in transit. And I still need cheap lights.

again you dont know what you are talking about. Please stop posting just to get your numbers up. There has been water in the tank for 2 months now. Its good trust me.

I like all glass tank better rather than the plywood tank. My tank is smaller than yours with dimension 150cm x 60cm x 60cm, but even so I used a 12mm thick glass (used glass). I could probably got away with 10mm, but I prefer a strong tank. Better safe than late.

Just in case anyone is intrested my 180 just passed 4 months with water it it. not so much as a pinleak. And no Bow at all. The stingrays are loving it.
