so you told them youd be running 2-4 GPM!!!?????? because that far exceeeds 15gph. the filter should work up to 15gph, but not effective with flow rates over that.

now that my brain activity has returned back to normal, my 2-4gpH is well under the 15gpH limit that he recommended.

with that, i'm still not sure if i should spend the extra money on this or just get the basic carbon filters. because shipping through these guys is RIDICULOUS. a $62 filter will cost me $100 shipped might as well put that towards a Chemilizer down the road

I would like the chemilizer idea if I was running thousands of gallons, but I just don't see it being worth it. I have run my carbon for almost a year now and still don't measure any chlorine or chloramines in my water. So it costs me about $20 a year to operate versus buying gallons of prime to dose and that is considering that I am changing both sides of the filter, not just the one as recommended. Its all about the long term effectiveness.

These are rated for 5,000 gallon per filter recharge (one side, not both). You might go as far as to say I could run 10,000 gallons through it for one change. I guess some of it depends on the amount of chlorine and chloramines in the water. I don't think you can beat that for effectiveness even with a dosing system. I also like to account for the failure rate of electronic components.

yeah that is a good point. he did say they now have matrix carbon blocks that are even better than the activated carbon and last longer. let me see what i find at lowes right now...
