what kind of filteration should i be looking at? also, what would be the cheapest way to light and heat the tank?

for filteration i think i'm going to go with a homemade sump. i'm going to buy a 50 gallon rubbermaid bin, and either a 36 or another 50 gallon bin, because they just don't make them any bigger
. would the 50 and 36 be enough, or will i need to get 2 50s? for heating i think i'm going to put the heater in the sump, just incase the cichlids decide they don't like it
where can i get a pump that will pump the water from the sump back into the tank?

I've been told the rubbermaids don't work so good as sumps because you can't really baffle them; they warp. Try to find a used tank and use that instead - I'm lucky, my tank came with a sump. I'm going to add probably an fx5 along with it as I don't think my filter is enough for my tank and eventual stock.
