Diy background with caves

well got it filled up with water now and a couple of HOB filters running to circulate it. it looks pretty good, cant wait till it gets alil algee growing on it. still havent decided on substrate yet probally pick sum up tomarrow

woah, i'm really starting to like the whole setup now. The white shades give it a unique sandstone looks, something really hard to achieve in an aquarium setting. I think for substrate pick up some clay colored gravel or something that will not contrast too harshly against the background. Something desserty, no gloss. As for stock, if you get some polys in there and some robust cichlids, dude you're set.

How about doing more faux rock for the bottom too...;)
 
Very nice setup! I agree it will look better when some algae starts growing on it, but I think it looks impressively real already! I am definitely considering a project like this for the summer when I upgrade my tank size and have the opportunity to do this.
 
I believe im going to just go with gravel and i built this tank for my favorite fish Fango since he is out growing his extremely fast. i have started another background for my 90 gallon bowfront for my red devil and plan to do one in my 220 and 280 soon
