DIY Clay Aquarium

Wow, looks good! What an awesome idea!

Just a thought...you could cut a piece of acrylic or even plywood just a little bit bigger than your final glass size. You could press this template into the clay and create a smooth surface for final sealing. You could also do the same thing on top so when you're done, you can easily make a lid that will sit down inside a small recessed area.

Looks great! I am anxious to see the completed set up!

I'm starting to think that depending on how hard/ expensive these are to make I might make them and sell them on craigslist for profit. What do you think?

Would you mind if I used this idea? I've got a few spare panes of glass from a broken 1g and my art teacher may let me make this sometime. :)

No, by all means go ahead. I put it on her to give others idea on what to do. Actually I will be cutting the top of where the glass will go on and making it about 3" taller due to the acrylic I plan on using is just a bit bigger then previously thought. I also am going to give it a 3/4" lip around the area with the water so I might be able to put a crayfish it it if I want to.

After I make this I plan on taking a 10 gallon I got that doesn't hold water and using its panes to make 5 more of these and possible sell them if I can see a profit to be made.

Of course if you use this idea then I expect a link to the thread of the construction ;)

Of course :D

Thinking mine will be around 2-3 gallons, we have a small kiln unfortunately, and can't fit anything this large.
