metairie louisiana
the other day me and a friend went fishing and nothing was biting so we decided to find some woods for our tanks. we found some really nice pieces but are now at a lost for how to get them aquarium safe. im not sure on the type of wood because i dont know how to identify the species of woods/trees. i live in south louisiana if that helps with the type of wood it might be. some pieces were submerged and some werent some also have bark and im not sure how to remove it. what would be the best way to approach making the wood aquarium safe? ill post some pics sometime tomorrow

Rinse, scrub with stif wire brush, soak in absolute hottest water possible for a wile. I repeet this 2-3 times then just soak in hottest watervpossible for about a month or so then ad to tank many think this overkill tho

Some pieces are really big i was thinking of using a crawfish boiling pot with a propane tank and a burner for a few hours. You think that would do the trick?

That would probably do the trick. I've soaked pieces in water and kosher salt for a week or so. Then just water for another week. Never had any issues before.
