eyyy, i did a diy on driftwoods wid my dad. we basically sank the drift in a large pot and boiled it on an open burner for a long time, but my was actually kinda small enough to fit, but urs seems quite a big large.
o and they usually wont sink, so what we did was drill a hole into the wood and get plastic screws and slate. drill the slate carefully and drill a hole into the wood for how u want it stand and what position. then u nail in the plastic screw (get the large screws from home depot) tightly and firmly making sure it doesnt move.
