Hello All

I have not been happy with mechanical filtration on my tank so I thought I'd get a couple of Canister filters, to use for pure mechanical filtration as my trickle systems is maintaining biological filtration nicely.

And well I decided to make my own as I have a couple of In-Line Power heads that don't need to be submersed, so I thought I might as well put them to use.

I will be getting a 3/4 BSP male to 25mm barbed connector tomorrow which will be used for the intake on the drum.

Still have to go to hardware and get the grill material, suppoorts and the pipe for the intake to go in the tank.

I'll pop up some more pictures tomorrow when I get the bits. :)

so youre drilling a hole in the bottom for the intake?
looks good. how big is that drum?

There's a threaded inlet on the bottom already so tomorrow I need to buy a 3/4 BSP to 25mm barded adapter. :)

The drum is 460mm H x 325mm Diameter holds 30 Litres.

Cool. Can't wait to see the progress. Is that protein shake container?

nice. i was just about to ask where you got it.
is there a rubber gasket under the lid?

Yep! It's part of the lid. I just hope I can tighten it all enough so the thing doesn't leak like a sieve.

Very cool can't wait to see more. Lots of pics please.

Well got the 3/4 BSP to 25mm Barded fitting today for the intake and hooked it all up, but unfortunately it leaks through the lid. :irked:

It does have an o-ring but I am not able to tighten the lid enough to stop it leaking, so I will have to get another o-ring and see if that helps.

I will get the o-ring through the week, once I try that I'll let everyone know if that stops the leak or not.
