might as well make a wet/dry filtration system with the materials you bought. I am planning to make one now. Good Luck!

Cool idea and one I've been considering myself for lack of room for a sump. I'm trying to think of a way to incorporate a heater too maybe a separate compartment

Looks great man! I wanted to try a DIY canister, but decided to go sump instead. Don't let anyone tell you not to do something. Those are the ones who are afraid to fail themselves. Making things happen is better than watching things happen.
