DIY lighting

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
why wouldn't you? I would need 2 of those big lights in the first link because the one would not send the light all over the 20 gallon how I would want it to. I still say so with halogen bulbs from lowes like the Dr. already said. I'm thinking about doing it mostly fish only with maybe a easy annome(spelling off I know) or something.

Sweet thanks. I have two old cell phone chargers, I might give one a try. I really am starting to wonder if I need "moon" lights, but I might install them just incase I end up needing them.

Hey, I forgot to ask...where's Avon?

Thank you, I was thinking the same thing! You can't just say something like that unless you explain yourself! Oh, where is Avon... Have you ever wondered where the Avon Lady was from...jk It's a suburb of Indianapolis to the west of the Indy Airport.

Is that the home of the Famous 'Avon Heritage Festival and Chili contest'?

Just kidding................I looked it up :D

I just moved here last year, so I have no clue! Hey I saw that post the other dude put up about diy moonlights! $8 and I would need two to make the length of my tank. You think a cell phone charger would run two of those? It said like +/- 3.7 watts. I might have to check to see how many watts the charger is.

Seal them and they should work...

My only thoughts are of stray electrical fields that seem to harm some fish.

If it fish only the lighting from any home improvement store will be fine.

If however you intend to ever keep any corals other than a few shrooms or some softies you will need to go with something a bit higher in spectrum and a bit more intense.

If you can deal with the yellow lighting and have no intention of keeping photosythetic organisms then you should be fine!

Where did yellow lighting come from?
