If you can't get the shop vac in the tank I just use a sponge to soak up the last drops of water. It's a lot faster than a towel.

You should build up the silicone bead pretty thick especially around the lower parts of the window since that's where the pressure is greatest. And make sure the area you're applying silicone to is totally dry. I used a hair dryer when I patched mine. If there's any moisture it won't stick and you'll have another leak.

Is your glass sitting on the bottom or free floating against the opening?

Its free floating. If it doesnt work out now il probably build a frame of some kind.. How do you know 100% that it is the glass?:p hehe..its impossible with water, nowhere to start search, just do everything all over.

I always thought people just shimmy the bottom of the glass with wood or something & then remove it once there is enough water pressure pushing against the glass. So are you going to fill her up this Sunday ?

Wow, that's a lot of weight to be held by the silicone. I would support it underneath somehow to take the weight off the silicone. I doubt it's anywhere else other than the glass since you fiberglassed it. But you're the best judge since you can actually see it. If you do tear it apart use a wire pushed through the silicone to cut it away.

Good luck and keep us posted.

It is alot of weight indeed, but it is one hell of alot of silicone aswell :p think i have used 10 tubes til now, 5cm x 270 on top, 5cm x270 on bottom, and 5cmx 100 on each side.. So it should hold it pretty well.. the window stood on 2\4`s while it was curing, so the silicone didnt hold anything at that point.cant wait to testfill, i dont think it will be this sunday. I was checking the silicone yesterday, and it was not fully cured(not hard all over). So maybe il have to wait aa few days more.

That's good man. As much as I wanna see the tank filled it's always pays to be patient and extra careful. So next Saturday maybe?

jez thats some project,
you could have one of them tunnels dedicated to run a trolly so u can load stuff on it and then pull it tro,and your gona have to stay away from fast food,

Nice build. I agree with giving the silicone a little extra cure time. I let my tank sit for a week before filling. While the silicone might feel cured on the outside, it may not be so towards the inside. I also agree with Vidar-Alexander on covering the edges of the glass. Looking forward to seeing the end result.;)
