Be careful of putting uncured driftwood in your tank. I had one that smelled rotten and gave my fish fin rot. I eventually got rid of it.

You could put a big temporary sponge filter in the tank run off a air pump or in the sump as a prefilter if the cloudiness is particulate matter. If its tinged water run some carbon should clear up the water.
