Hi,
I'm new to this forum but have been keeping marines for a few months now and living my life (literally :nilly:) on another forum! Ha.

Anyway, I've seen a lot of plywood tanks on here and am interested in building one myself. I'm having great difficulty though in finding what I need to waterproof it.

A company I spoke to recommended their pond paint - said it would work with wood etc, then when I mentioned salt water, they took all their statements back.

Any suggestions (baring in mind I'm in the UK and things seem very hard to get hold of over here :S).

Thanks,

Chris

The pond stuff is similar to what I found at another Koi shop - the bluemax looks fantastic.

But will either of them stand up to salt water?

Well I've written to them to ask if it can hold saltwater. :) Will let you know when I have a response.

The response is it'll hold salt water fine without leaching providing you let it set properly. Good news it seems. :)

great take plenty of pics during the build

To my knowledge saltwater wont attack a sealer anymore than fresh water unless the sealer contains metal. If its a rubberized type of sealer it shouldnt matter.

I asked the question to the Sanitred folks about tearing also. They said that Sanitred is similar to tire rubber when cured and since the LRB can be applied in any thickness it can be made more durable.

You may want to look at something water proof, that product says its water resistant.
