ok below are my design for my ponds filter. i am not sure which to use. please feel free to tweak, criticize any thing.

SumpTankOne.jpg

water flows into the first drawer which contains some kind of media for mechanical filtration. then in the second drawer. i dont know if the second drawer should be more mechanical filtration or if i should go straight to the scrubbies. the water then falls into the third drawer which can be removed oor can be filled with more medi depending on what you people think.then the water falls into the reservoir and gets sent back to pond via the pump.

SumpTankTwo.jpg

water flows onto the floss and the into the scrubbies. which then flows back into the pond via the pump.

Instead of drawing it out.....how out the real deal?

I ended up having too much air coming back up from the standpipe and discharge hose so i added a balve valve and new PVC piping

basically the whole thing consists of

From Big Lots -
1 30g rubbermaid bin
3 small tubs (i ended up putting one upside down with massive holes in it to act as a water leveler"
12 bags of 79 cent pot scrubbers

From Wal Mart -
Pillow Stuffing

Home Depot
All PVC pipes and hoses

Ebay
1 2200gph ViaAqua Pond pump for 80 bux shipped

everything cost me about 125 bux and i couldn't be happier

ok mind if i use your design?

its not my design. alot of ppl here on MFK use almost the same or something similar. they're great setups and you will be happy. if your tank has a built in overflow i recommend a stand pipe. it'll make your system 10x quieter. dont buy one online. it'll cost you about 8-10 bucks to make your own

1 pipe cut to fit (diameter depends on the whole in your tank)
1 T
1 elbow

if you do it just work with it a little until you figure it out. good luck

most likely if i use that, it will be alot bigger because i need a filter for the pond im building.
and i think you sump may be smaller than what i need

just picture mine on a very larger scale and you should have a well put together filter for your pond. good luck

55Gal Drum 4 of them or 3 Make the first a Settlement, Use 4inch or 3 inch transfer piping Drive holes in the side of the Skimmers in side the Drum thus adding more air to flowing water. Air lines are on or off On will help with cleaning. Use k1 media or other bios balls

Second one is What everyone gets when they install new pond some times kind of hides in the farside of ponds it just runs down and back to a water fall simple but works. This one cheaper to build but doesn't have that much power vs the Drum filters.
