DIY Sump Designs

Nothing wrong with planning, unless you like mistakes :D .

1.25"-1.5" PVC will be fine. Error on the larger side if in question.

The last ref. I marked 'ultimate' is a very simple bio-filter (bottom of page) that can be modified (sized) to meet your needs. I used cattails, hiacynths & water lettuce (free here) along with lava rock (cleaned) and a two stage pre-filter. I've found frogs & tadpoles, minnows & mosquito fish in there, that I didn't put there.

Got any pix of the pond?

sorry doc this is the only pic i have

ok heres the break down.
the pond will be 13 feet long 10 feet wide. 36 inches deep but the water will only come up 30. which gives me about 2400 gallons (correct me if im wrong).

4x4 in each corner with 2x4s bracing the 4x4s on each side. and there will be vertical 2x4 spaced evenly in the space between both two 2x4s.

there will be insulation in between these inner 2x4s.

this is the side view of the skeleton

then on top of this skeleton will be on inch plywood

free standing do you think it will work?

No, not for that length, it needs alot more bracing (extending out from the wall), the water is going to try and force that into a circle...but if you bury it half way you've got a better chance.

i can always make it shorter. nothing is set in stone as of yet.10 by 13 is the biggest that would fit in my garage without taking up to much space and leave enough room for the other car-port.
what size would you reccomend?

i did but then i forgot about it when i saw the size of are new garage.
do they make those pools in much bigger sizes?

55Gal Drum 4 of them or 3 Make the first a Settlement, Use 4inch or 3 inch transfer piping Drive holes in the side of the Skimmers in side the Drum thus adding more air to flowing water. Air lines are on or off On will help with cleaning. Use k1 media or other bios balls

Second one is What everyone gets when they install new pond some times kind of hides in the farside of ponds it just runs down and back to a water fall simple but works. This one cheaper to build but doesn't have that much power vs the Drum filters.

need anything in those settlement chambers? Any mechanical filter media needed?
tnx
