Perfect, the lad clearly doesn't want to rub people up the wrong way and this thread proves that. Advice will help him AND THE FISH HE KEEPS (if you don't give a $$$$ about him) and also allow him to grow as an aquarist and become a valued source of knowledge in the future.

Perfect, the lad clearly doesn't want to rub people up the wrong way and this thread proves that. Advice will help him AND THE FISH HE KEEPS (if you don't give a $$$$ about him) and also allow him to grow as an aquarist and become a valued source of knowledge in the future.
It's a social situation. Not everyone will mesh well together. I've met some of the best people in the world on this site. As well as some I have nothing in common with and it'd be uncomfortable having to carry on a conversation even on the internet. And even met some real people who are just a walking PITA even just over the internet..
But by far I've made more friends and met more good people I'd happily BBQ with on this site than in real life. And I've set the people I don't get along with in a pile to the side. This is normal life lessons.
Especially if you're a young person. Do more listening than talking. You were given two ears and one mouth for a reason. Be courteous to everyone. Treat everyone with respect. Think before you speak. Use your brain looking for the answer before you ask. (The Search function used to work amazing, even lately I can Google something and all the first matches are MFK, with a quick answer.)
If you do all that you're either gonna make a lot of really good friends, or learn a lot about other people and yourself. And either way you benefit.
