Do I have energetic fish or a possible parasite?

Cleaning filters with tap water will kill the good bacteria that is your filters. You should be cleaning your filter cartridges with tank water that you remove from the tank during a water change so that you do not kill the bacteria. Rinse the sponges until practically clear.

Ohhhhh alright. Am I able to rinse the sponges with the tap water or should I rinse them in the 5 gallon bucket of tank water? My water is from a well. I'm not sure if that makes any difference or not.

If it's from a well, then you don't have chlorine or chloramines in tap, right? Then rinsing the media from the faucet would be fine.

If it’s well you can rinse it with tap. As long as you don’t have anything hooked up to treat the water. I do this. But.... I still rinse bio (only when absolutely needed) in tank water just to be safe.

Yeah, it's from a well, with no chlorine or any additives like that. I will start to rinse with the tank water tho. It makes since to me. Thanks everyone for helping me out. I picked up seachem paraguard just incase today. I also got seachem garlic guard to hopefully encourage them to accept more than just black warms..

I'm willing to bet your tank isn't cycled .. I'm trying to raise some ebjd myself right now.. I'm finding them to be the weakest fish I've ever owned and I've owned almost every fish. I lost my biggest one last night (over 3 inches) to a combo of ich and internal parasites

EBJDs were the hardest fish to raise to adulthood I’ve ever owned. I’ve tried them in the past a few times with no success.

This time I managed to raise three to adulthood.

My main treatments i used for parasites were prazipro, metroplex, and an ick treatment. I’ve had to treat multiple times with each depending on what I suspected the problem was.

I also always had frozen mysis shrimp and brine shrimp on hand for when one of them would refuse to eat for a day. I tried not letting them refuse to eat for too long, and always gave in to the above foods to get them eating.

I treated the tank with seachem Paraguard and API super ich cure. I put both in yesterday and once more today. My EBJD is acting much much better.

Wait, you mixed both of those? I would have only done one of those medications, not both at the same time.
